May try to give that one a shot before paying for Threema.

Literally in the same position you were in before! I’ve only ever bought mac but I currently have a mini pc in my cart ready to purchase along with a usb drive with multiple Linux options. My mac is still running okay, I just hate how they are built to last seemingly not a really long time, so you can buy the next one which will cost even more yet also have fewer needed plug-ins so that they cal also try to sell you a separate thing that has the plug ins you needed. I really hate apple at this point, to be honest. Excited to get something other than an iphone as my next phone when the time comes too.

I never really even thought to research that much. I scanned the different instances. I joined into privacysafe.social - it seemed fine. Being that I have only been on it for a few hours and have only followed 9 accounts, I can’t say I’ve noticed many issues regarding my feed at this point. Although I wish I could organize my feed by newest first. It doesn’t seem to be that way by default. I have just had a couple minor bugs with profile pages loading strangely.

Asking genuinely: do people still use Mastodon? It boomed briefly when Musky took twitter but for whatever reason, people decided to go to the data harvesting, ad filled blue sky. I never got either of them but have been recently thinking of mastodon but assumed people don’t still use it.

I’m from the US and my partner and I a few months back looked up videos about Manchester because we want to go on a trip there eventually and we came across an uploader who seems to linger around outside of clubs to film women who don’t seem to be aware he is recording them. It wonderfully does! And as the other reply states, it also can automatically skip over paid promotional segments and “remember to like, comment and subscribe” stuff. It’s wonderful. You can also customize those settings and skip or not skip whatever bits you want. For example, I turned off a setting that would skip “non-music portion” of music videos. That was a tad annoying to me. But it’s the only form of youtube I would use on my tvs. I can’t stand constant ad interruptions on youtube.

Exactly. We can’t have universal healthcare but we can have a TRILLION dollar defense budget. Great! And on top of that, our “president” also is getting European countries to increase their defense spending which will eat away at social programs so, that’s cool too. Who needs to directly help improve the quality of life for people when we can have more bombs?
