for sure. the workflow i would suggest is:

1. read / study references
2. deploy a theme you like, poke at it and play with it
3. try to rebuild it from scratch using current knowledge. copy/paste not allowed
4. consult reference materials for parts you get hung up on
5. repeat until functional
6. polish and stylize

it’s how i did it when i was a kid; but again, this may be an archaic approach compared to modern standards

as for themes, i remember buying a few from creative-tim.com for various projects after dissecting their free ones

edit: also, something that helped me understand the foundations/mechanics of html/php/css was taking free bootstrap themes, reading the source code, and then trying to rebuild them using my own code

one of mine is an old flash video that i think i remember was on newgrounds, that had a black guy and a white guy talking to each other.

i cut my teeth on linux mint with cinnamon before moving to garuda dragonized. it was my daily driver for the last four years, then i switched to proxmox and just run everything on VMs 🤷

lots of resources and documentation available for mint, but it’s pretty turnkey. best advice i’d give to a newfriend is make sure you read any articles or documentation start to finish, instead of trying to follow along. also, employ good backups practice: learn what timeshift/snappy is, how it works, and how to use it.
