the possibility for fried beans is blowing my mind you can just make bean nuggets and season them a trillion different ways

P.s. to do this exact same thing veganly the choices I’m aware of are 1) just skip the three step dredge and dredge it in seasoned flour and accept your life of less crisp breadings, 2) use soy milk instead (maybe oat milk since it’s less sweet but i haven’t tried it) because it works okay, or 3) use aquafaba instead which I haven’t tried but I feel like would maybe work better than the milk

random thought but maybe an aquafaba milk blend might be a better egg replacement, get it to a more eggy consistency, idk

Anyway, bean balls, y’all

Frijoles refritos are technically fried, too. You take cooked beans, mix them in a skillet over medium heat with oil and whatever ingredients you want, and then stir them all together with a masher until it’s the consistency you want. I like to use empazote, cilantro, cumin, a whole onion diced, a bunch of garlic cloves minced, and a diced jalapeño.

Yeah but what if you took that and added enough binder to flatten it into a cracker and then fried that for a FRIED REFRIED BEAN CHIP? That’s what my mind’s stuck on right now

I will say that the creole seasoned black eyed pea rice chips I made got kinda stale fast but i did just shove them in a drawer on a sheet pan thinkin id eat them later (the drawer was an anti cat countermeasure)

I tend to use my microwave for anti-cat countermeasures, but I’ve got it full of sweet potato bread at the moment. Sucks when you have to use it, though.
