A lot of body tapes leave behind a residue that can cause irritation. Cleaning the area with some form of solvent can help reduce that in my experience. Cooking oil, sorbelene or essential oils (eucy, tea tree, lavender etc) work as a solvent for it.
A figure 6 and figure 8 ankle strapping {tape} are pretty simple.
