The Expanse is fantastic. There are even some ways the show surpasses the books, like the belter creole being more thought out and Amos’ characterization being fully formed from the start. The books take a while to differentiate him from generic big strong guy, but the show started after there were already several books out, so we get full Amos right from the start.

I do wish they’d played some Peter Jackson hobbits and Gandalf in the same room tricks or something to make Bobbie gigantic though, Bobbie should be absolutely huge.

(Also I’ve never heard of this Jon guy, another one of those antiwoke critic grifter types, I guess?)

Churchianity: How Modern American Churches Corrupted Generations of Christians by Jon Del Arroz

      In this book, you’ll learn:

      • Why entertainment-focused worship undermines the gospel
      • How social justice leads believers astray
      • The crucial difference between God’s justice and popular activism
      • Why comfort-focused Christianity produces weak disciples
      • The specific practices that built strong Christian communities for centuries
      • How to reclaim authentic worship, discipleship, and biblical authority

This book provides clear direction for Christians ready to abandon the shallow substitute and embrace the demanding, transformative faith that Christ actually taught.

Make Science Fiction Fun Again by Jon Del Arroz

A tremendous short-story collection. The best short-story collection. Believe me.

Inside this adventurous collection, you’ll find tales of fighting monsters on alien planets, Nazi soldiers stumbling into a futuristic war where all life is at stake, AI coming to life and inhabiting a sex robot’s body, baseball on the moon, and more.

Of course you should never judge a book by the cover. Judge them by the advertising copy, instead.

I loved the series, even though it had its ups and downs and limitations I think it did a great job of just being a fun sci fi show with some characters I got to learn to love. Drummer and the old salty pirate captain had a great arc together. It set a high bar for a sci fi show.

Jon is a creep who wasn’t cancelled hard enough, apparently
