God, I was obsessed with DEP back in the day. I miss them. Time to go on a binge.
I’ve been nostalgic for Mathcore over the last few days. I know a lot of people hated it and thought it was gimmicky, which it was, but IMO it holds up well. The '00s was a magical time for Mathcore.

I was around when DEP was around, and i dont remember thinking anything they did was gimmicky. But maybe im a gullible fool.
DEP were the trendsetters. Many other bands like iwrestledabearonce showed up on the scene and kind of flooded the zone. Plenty of gimmicky wonky prog stuff, but I love it. I remember many a metal elitist writing off the entire mathcore scene.
