      It’s to make linking various records easier. A known validated fields means you can more easily narrow down who someone is when you’re merging datasets you get from databrokers (or can get more money selling that customer data to databrokers).

      Ironically, China has way more restrictions on this than even the GDPR. It’s illegal for any company to maintain customer data that isn’t anonymized and even more illegal to sell de-anonymized data.

        AliExpress is asking me to age verify through an Israeli company to look at knives.

        edit: Fucking nail scissors, are they verifying I’m over the age of 3?

        disabled AliExpress shopping cart entry for nail scissors "This item is unavailable due to age verification restrictions"

        At least I can still buy a nail gun, a vape or pure ethanol.
