Just rediscovered this one in my archives, but frankly I don’t know much about de Blaas, an Austrian-Italian painter who lived from 1843 to 1931. In fact I’m still trying to ‘figure him out’ in the artistic sense.

Many (most?) professional artists can be hard to pigeonhole, and frankly, it’s often a disservice to do so in the first place. De Blass for example mostly seemed to work in portraiture, but he could approach such in subtly or overtly different ways.
For example, from something of a classic Dutch Master-ish style:

…all the way to a more folksy, contemporary style, except that the lighting is ‘spotlight-driven,’ with his figures kinda like Greek statues brought to life:

Haha, or something like that. I sadly skimped on art history and theory, so am always a bit bumbling in my attempts to explain. Anyway, check out the WP link if you like his stuff, as it includes a ~20 piece sampler. :D
@wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com, I just now saw your deleted comment, lol. Pretty good actually!, but I’d say you were right to delete it. 😁
