They aren’t funny, but I also keep getting gaslit by people in my life that “ironic” bigotry is funny and cool. Everything they don’t like is gay or r-slurred. To the people I know who don’t find it funny, it’s still no big deal and I’m overreacting if I don’t want to spend time with people with terrible politics.
When people weren’t getting unlimited and infinite praise for punching Richard Spencer, instead getting condemned, I thought that would be the final nail in the coffin for “”““ironic””“” bigotry. It’s so obvious a lot of people use irony as cover for their actual beliefs, especially outright neo-nazis. I can only assume those still clinging to irony aren’t actually being ironic and are deliberately trying to obfuscate their ideas, hoping to find others who share them.
Holy shit do I also hate that, and it’s always the same when you point out how bad that is, suddenly you’re the one overreacting and in the wrong. I’m also starting to hate “ironic gay jokes”, like there is no slur or anything in that, but the joke is just saying something gay. At first I thought that was good because if people are joking about that then they must not be bigots right? A bigot wouldn’t joke about sucking cock right? Wrong, giving the chance they will be lgbtphobic.

I hate white suburbanites so fucking much.
Fantastic. We’ve regressed twenty years. Wonderful. I thought this shit was taken out back and shot.
It’s terrible. People in their fucking 30s are saying this shit.

I was about to say Brooklyn podcasters too. But most of them started as suburbanites.
It really is sad and pathetic how far we’ve regressed.
