I don’t think I’ve particularly understood the appeal of any of the ultra popular YouTube influencers.
Mr beast, ishowspeed, pewdiepie, ray williams, etc. If I want to watch a silly game show, I’d prefer anything Japanese or English. If I want to watch someone poorly play video games and make agonizingly ill informed social commentary, I’ll just listen to a child. If I want a clip show with reactions, I don’t actually want that- no, thank you.
But lonely girl was a neat idea, even if I didn’t enjoy it.
Same page. I feel like there’s a blatant artifice to so much of it, and it shocks me that people seem to connect with it. I want to assume there’s some appeal too sly for my middle-aged sensibilities, but I’m worried the kids are just dumber.
