I think this way about wall decorations that are just vaguely relevant words like “EAT” in people’s kitchens or “LIVE LAUGH LOVE” or “HOME SWEET HOME.” Might be the autism talking but looking at them feels like a message being forcibly injected into my skull and I find them very annoying. Advertisements are even worse and are genuinely infuriating.
He learned to communicate with birds and discovered their conversation was fantastically boring. It was all to do with windspeed, wingspans, power-to-weight ratios and a fair bit about berries. Unfortunately, he discovered, once you have learnt birdspeak you quickly come to realize that the air is full of it the whole time, just inane bird chatter. There is no getting away from it.

Maybe it’s just me, but I get unreasonable angry when I have to read “u” and “ur.” I can’t really explain why, but I’d love it if people could write “you” and “your”/“you’re”, is it asking too much for people to add the extra “y” and “o” (or whatever)?

Whilst I don’t agree with it I do understand why people might want to shorten longer words (eg; whatever to w/eva. Or to be honest as tbh). It saves a tiny bit of time and space.
But when I see u and ur I just think, “this muppet doesn’t know the difference between your/you’re/yaw/yore and therefore just dumbs it down to this shit to cover it up!”Also I used to know a person who would spell anyways as newaizz (sometimes there would be S’s, not zeds).

Now that you mention it, I have been doing tech support for multiple years and yeah, sometimes I just have to read them the message on the screen.
I was playing overwatch the other day and a random person on my team was yelling at me over and over with a Spanish accent. Really distracting. Since I couldn’t mute him in the middle of a fight, all I did was say ‘no habla’ over mic, and he switched to yelling at twice the speed in Spanish (which I don’t speak) and it immediately got easier to focus lol
I used to work in a spanish company in a tiny office with 4 people, and I found it so easy to tune them out when they were speaking with each other in spanish. Then I worked for a british company, and my concentration just snowballed

Fuck. I just read this.
This continues even when you learn different scripts. I know the Katakana on an English product is probably going to sound like an English word spoken in a Japanese accent, but I still feel compelled to sound out “aisu kuriimu” (or whatever the written word may be) whenever I see it.
It’s not as automatic as reading in English is, but the compulsion to focus on the written words still exists.
