Prodigy was so much better than I had hoped! I was worried they would be pushed to make so family friendly it would lose some of those “moral discussion” questions I love Trek for. Nope.
I honestly think that, apart from maybe the slightly lackluster first couple of episodes, there is not a bad episode of Prodigy.
In fact, it’s too bad those first couple of episodes are what I would call the worst two episodes of the series, because people gave up and missed the rest.
If they’d just stuck around for a few more episodes, they would have gotten to the Kobiyashi Maru episode, which I honestly consider to be one of the best episodes of Star Trek period. The sound editing alone blew me away.
It’s phenomenal, but they did struggle to get characters established. The Trek feel doesn’t really kick in til near halfway through the season. Hearing Walter Bishop’s voice had me locked in no matter what.
It doesn’t make a lot of sense for Seven to have a mirror universe equivalent. The only reason she was rescued from the Borg was because Voyager was in the Delta quadrant. I cannot imagine mirror universe Janeway would have done anything other than use the caretaker device to get home.

It was absolutely amazing. And season 2 was almost like an additional season of Voyager.
And unlike Discovery, it answered questions Trekkies actually wanted answered- like what a Klingon scientist is like.
And we finally got a peak at the VOY mirror universe equivalents!

Mirror seven is probably a drone.
ENT in a corner sobbing.
