Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would you ever walk up to a total stranger and strike up a conversation?
1·9 hours agoIm in Australia and it really only happens if a bogan wants something from you. Im also an introvert so i could never walk up to someone and strike up a conversation, but your story makes me wonder if maybe it isnt such a ‘weird thing’

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it actually healthy for people to have a place to confess things anonymously?
3·11 hours agoCan users talk to each other like with messages or is it like writing a letter in a bottle where there is no way to have a back and forth chat?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is memes@lemmy.ml super one sided right now?
21·12 hours agoNah thats just the internet
Mmmm yeah i get what you mean but i just dont see people using it the way you intend them to. Just look at the responses and downvotes everytime you’re trying to explain yourself without provocation on your end. Why even bother wanting to give them a space for improvement or anything like that. Sounds like a headache with no benefit
I still dont really see the incentive of it though. Is it like going to confession to absolve you of your sins or morbid curiosity for people lurking?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•A fun anti-monopoly law and anti-enshitification measure would be that once you hit 50% of market share you are forced to link to alternatives on your page
4·15 hours ago“We want to help you make smart purchasing choices with your money! Now here are all the alternate companies that we own, have a stake in or have a trade agreement with!”
Reddit had a sub like this which quickly turned into people posting obvious lies for karma farming. I dont think humans are trust-worthy enough for blurting out their deepest secrets to strangers.
I support the left and dont like the right

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are you a use it all now or save things for later sort of person?
13·3 days agoWouldn’t change me. I always like to save something good, gives me comfort knowing i have something up my sleeve i can use if i need to.
But if im dying? Probs use it all at once or give it to someone who isnt dying (unless im all alone)

Ah ok, i like the message in a bottle style. I would think karma and other types of incentives for using the platform might defeat the purpose of it being a true and organic experience
