Thanks, but could we not “all lives matter” the antisemitic sexual assault of a 12 year old?
Exactly, this is why some OBs are shuttering their practice entirely or moving states. It’s just not worth the risk.
If only.

It could still turn around, but needs a big push.
I wish they would report on this more honestly.
Europe and Australia both back down on mass surveillance in the name of CSAM

I think that may be why the doctors are reluctant to draft actual clear guidelines. They want to give as much protection as possible, but fear their guidelines will be given the force of law.
Why should it be their responsibility to draft rules fixing terrible laws? Better to let the legislators sit in the pile they made or clean it up themselves.
All polls point to another term for Cruz
I think this just means that the honeymoon is over.
In all seriousness, this is a common feature of any social media or human experience (hobby, relationship, etc) in general. When something is new and we are in the exciting discovery period, it seems great. After a while, the warts start to show. Some things begin to seem repetitive.
Lemmy does not have as much content as larger and older social media. It has limitations. the way people vote content is different from other sites because the structure and culture of the platform is different.
This is not to deny anyone’s experience. If you are no longer enjoying it or getting something out of it, take a break. That’s good advice for any social media.
You seem to be confusing religion with a bible, which is probably a reflection of the dominant religion near you, but not every religion has a book, and not every religion with a book understands it in the same way.
This presumes some type of “pure” original religion — which indeed some people believe — as opposed to an evolving understanding that is relevant in each generation.

9 million people are currently displced in Sudan, making this the worst displacement crisis of our time.
There is still time to keep it from becoming the deadliest.
Also true. It’s not easy to support local news but it’s very important. I haven’t really seen a good model of how to do that.
They provide a public good, so maybe they should be publicly funded? It works okay for the national broadcast news systems that exist in a lot of cases (PBS, NPR, BBC).
I’m not sure how extremists were using Airbnb, but it’s probably a good thing that they can’t.
I think that we will just have to disagree on this one.
I deal with local news quite a bit (and occasionally national news) in my real life. It is one of the last places made up of actual people going out, doing interviews, asking questions, reporting on the facts that they find, and held accountable to the people of the community. I’ve had the same experience with TV and print news.
When national reporters show up, they generally already know the story they are going to tell and are looking for pics and quotes to confirm their version of a story.
There are national journalists and even (a few) independent journalists who are also doing honest, important investigative work, but I personally have not dealt with them.
Probably go seduce my wife as a stranger.
Something something traditional practice based on nautical custom, therefore something alignment for better something something.
Can’t they just sell one of those sound-weapon equipped tanks from the NYPD to cover the entire library budget?

Just came out. I’ve updated the post.
That’s exactly what it is. If you read an article about a little girl sexually assaulted because she is Jewish and your first thought is, “but there is also a genocide in Gaza!” then you have lost the plot.
