I agree more and more with what Rodiric Day said about brainwashing - I don’t think these people are brainwashed or being fooled, they’re just making excuses, reaching for justifications given by propaganda because they want to, NEED to believe it. It’s a survival mechanism, something materially beneficial to say and believe because it’s too scary to actually resist, it’s too unsafe, they’ll lose all this comfort they have, even given what’s happening. These are just moments to get through without being noticed to pick up where they left off with weekly brunch and happy hour trivia nights. That obviously lacks long term thinking when it comes to the question of survival, but that has always been the case when it comes to buying into imperialist propaganda.

And more than half the sets this year will be universes beyond sets, 2 of them being IPs they’ve already covered before. I thought TNMT was just going to be a secret lair thing that I could completely ignore, but apparently not. If they add more spacecraft with the station mechanic with star trek, I guess I could stomach that, but goddammit.
