        The discourse environment has changed.

In the past edgy atheists were engaging with the mask christofascism was wearing, that’s why they were able to dunk on creationism and the inanity of some biblical stories. Nowadays no one talks about creationism and talking about warfare in the name of god and dashing babies against the rocks just gets one million Asmonmolds going “Based 🤪”

If you are an edgy atheist in your teens, you grow up to believe either that the workers must seize the means of production or that you can determine someone’s intelligence by measuring their skull.

Good news! I was just talking to my buddy and we’re gonna jam and record some black metal today cause its snowing out and we feel like it. It’s gonna be grim and frostbitten in a way that only a couple of crust punks who are now into industrial and noise music and dont care much about black metal can achieve. Its gonna be mid tempo and no tremolo picking.

I dont care much for 90% of black metal but id fuck with this. Hit me up with the recording! My doom band is practicing a quick little grind thing tonight. Doing the same as you - i don’t know the fundamentals behind playing grind, but I want something fast to break up our sets.

Grind is maybe the most fun genre to play ever. Heres my two grind bands that recorded

            Gouge:

            https://gouge902.bandcamp.com/

Joyboypisstest, a 2 piece bass and drums thing, for the demo I did keyboards

Jam recording that sounds like us live

Our absolutely absurd demo, im giving a 10 years later re-listen and ive gotta say, pretty proud of my production job, it sounds silly as hell and we were a very silly band. Kitten Darby does guest vocals as well as a Japanese YouTube ad that came up when I was recording samples that I then played some guitar over. Its dumb as hell:

I fucking love playing grindcore. Working on programming drum machine so I can do the 100 song in 7 minute cybergrind album I wrote a while back

In high school I played noise grind over ‘Folk Punk’ band geeks 'busking’outside the school. I lost a lot of my rich kid friends that I got into punk when they discovered ska and folk punk, cause they were also band geeks and hung out with band geeks thst liked that stuff as well. I wss getting into crust and grind and hanging out with homeless people and had no time for that trash. They were dressing up as pirates and having choruses like “drop out! Quit your job! Run away! Fall in love!” While living in 3 story houses with in ground swimming pools in their back yard. Mischief Brew and This Bike is a Pipe Bomb fucking rules and I love old folk music but ive got beef with folk punk ever since 2006 or so and it’s effects are still noticeable. To me its generally smacks of rich kid hipsters who want to dres like Peter pan

Whaaat? I met him a few times while he was on the road before he passed but not much more than quick chats. Dude was nice as hell, and listened to my high-school band’s demo and got back to me about it on MySpace. Seemed like one of the most legit people out there and holy hell could he play. I think he also understood the folk part better than most folk punk…and was also more punk
