I don’t believe someone in this type of position would say something like this, unless a profound shift in society is taking place.

    The Episcopalians have always been pretty chill, at least in the US. One of the first churches to ordain women, and gays, and they’re quite often on the correct side of social issues and actually do stuff about it. So this isn’t super surprising. Still got problems like all church organizations do but critical support to them nonetheless

      OK, sure, but publicly saying that it’s God will to die in battle against the gestapo is still something else entirely. It might be logical that this is the first church to say it, but the fact that any church (or other element of established instotutions) says something like this is absolutely insane (laudatory). I’m tempted to use the term “prerevolutionary conditions”.
