OR, the situation becomes a case of mutually-assured destruction, like the Cold War. The cops don’t want that fight, and the Panthers know it. ALL Cops are cowards at their core, they can’t exist in society without carrying an arsenal, and elevating themselves above their fellow citizens. They won’t engage someone they KNOW is equally armed, and BETTER TRAINED, and knows the law better.

They’d rather go after poor working people just trying to get by. They are more compliant, and can’t afford lawyers.

Yeah but then that potential wake-up call gets put through the 2026 filter and out the other end comes… “Trump claims Harlem should be carpet bombed and casino parking garage built – midwest gang violence the last straw even if it was Law Enforcement gangs this one time.”

A recurring problem with joining extremist organizations is that eventually it will outpace your personal extremist views and behaviors … and then you will be a victim of it.

“First they came for the …” is about people that were Nazis but not Nazi enough … and in a Nazi-like society no one except Trump/Hitler will ever be Nazi enough to not be culled until the leaders cull themselves.

And remember that when they cull the bottom group that creates a new bottom group by definition. and eventually that new bottom group is gonna include you.

and they not gonna stop culling because of you

This is where if police departments wanted to gain credibility, they’d be arresting the ICE agents for assault with a deadly weapon.

Qualified immunity has a “reasonableness” portion to it. It’s a pretty strong argument that ICE isn’t being reasonable if a cop arrests them for assaulting a cop.

Qualified immunity protects government actors from civil penalties (lawsuits) as a result of their actions while on duty and when not violating the constitutional/civil rights of citizens (that’s the “qualified” part). I.e., you can’t sue the cops for the damage to your doorframe after they kick your door in serving a warrant. It does not protect government actors from criminal prosecution and does not grant them license to violate existing laws, and it never has.

This is also true for ICE, which is why Vance and Stephen Miller are suddenly so keen to start screeching that they think ICE now magically has “absolute” immunity, which there is also no legal basis for whatsoever. Those pulling the strings know that ICE is in fact routinely breaking the law, and they’re desperately trying to get out ahead of it while anyone believes that any shred of equal protection under the law still exists.

If cops have qualified immunity that is very often used to say cops can easily get away with murder, and agents have Vance blanket twitter pardons, can they just all kill each other with no legal consequences?

Since ICE officers don’t normally carry identification, or badges, or even show their face, there’s nothing illegal about dressing up as an ICE officer as long as you don’t actually claim to be an officer, right?

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been pulling guns on off-duty officers of color while illegally demanding their citizenship papers.

And when they identify as a cop, ICE doesn’t verify and just walks away…

“And after the officer became so concerned, they were forced to identify themselves as a Brooklyn Park police officer in hopes of slowing the incident and de-escalating the incident down.”

“The agents then immediately left after hearing this, making no other comments, no other apologies, just got in their vehicles and left.”

Bruley said the anecdote was not an isolated incident.

ICE recruiting is prioritizing law enforcement for field work right now, but they are also hiring plenty of back of the house personnel as well (desk work), and have been telling them that after more training there is good potential for them to get into the field, too.

Remember “Alice’s Restaurant,” when the guy tried to avoid the draft by acting crazy?

And I went up there, I said, “Shrink, I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead burnt bodies. I mean kill, Kill, KILL, KILL.” And I started jumpin up and down yelling, "KILL, KILL, " and he started jumpin up and down with me and we was both jumping up and down yelling, “KILL, KILL.” And the sargent came over, pinned a medal on me, sent me down the hall, said, “You’re our boy.”

To cherry pick everything out of the article and ‘ACAB’ that is pretty silly. That’s a very reasonable comment because literally zero border protections would be a disaster. I mean sure disband ICE, but you’ll need someone at the airports and checking containers etc.

I mean Canada at least doesn’t have a special armed paramilitary force that goes around seeking people to deport. If someone is in the country illegally and acting improperly someone will notice and inform the police but as far as I’m aware there’s nobody raiding culturally diverse restaurants seeking to ruin someone’s life.

That seems like a law enforcement issue, and boy howdy do we have people for that already!

Like if you’re arrested and you are in the country illegally, you could be deported after you’ve been processed and/or served a sentence. That’s already been a thing for a long time. And we could argue in good faith about what the most fair and just policies are surrounding that.

(aside: populations in the developed world are not growing like they used to, and are shrinking in many places. The US is driving away our most respected minds and our most disrespected laborers RIGHT when other nations are going to start treating them even better than before. So even aside from the “be kind to humans” angle it’s pretty strategically stupid.)

But what the United States is supposed to be about, as in the Constitution and amendments, is that decent people just get to do their thing to just live life and pursue happiness. You don’t get searched or evaluated or judged unless you break the laws we collectively built. Therefore, nobody would going door to door checking people’s papers.

The tools that law enforcement would need in order to simply deport all people here illegally are the kinds of things our laws were designed to prevent from ever existing!

I think I would agree with the “liberty” side of that one. It seems much less bad for my family that some folks in town working tough jobs are “ILLeGaL” versus living in a surveillance-state, police-state, fascist dictatorship.

This is how the Conservative Propaganda Machine finds.people with poor Critical Thinking Skills and separates them from the herd, and starts working on them. I’m this case, they are prepared to accept whatever ICE does to us, because they’ve been told it will be far worse if ICE goes away.

Was there NOTHING at the border before ICE? Was nobody being stopped at the border before?

Of course not, Border Patrol has been a thing forever, long before ICE was around. If ICE goes away, then we simply rely on the Border patrol, like we’ve always done.

You could argue that they could do a better job, but sending armed invaders to attack our cities is not the better job they should be doing.
