Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well. I continue to sink most of my free time plowing through Persona 5 Royal. Also a little Balatro on my phone on the side. Hope you all have a good week!

I recently finished Esoteric Ebb. I think its worse than Disco Elysium BUT I still think its quite good and worth playing. Its overall more upbeat and for the most part lighter and less serious than Disco Elysium. Esoterics Ebbs tone is more fairytale like and whimsical. Oh and it is less leftwing than Diso. Like I get the impression that Esoteric Ebb was done by a well meaning Socdem where as Disco was done by real Marxists™.

I give Esoteric Ebb one Octahedron Gloink

I started Another Crab’s Treasure and having a good time so far! It’s a little easy, but Going Under by the same team managed to get decently challenging towards the end

It’s pretty sandboxy really, more like a city builder in that sense. Supply chains are there, but not that deep, and frankly neither is automation even though they added sensors/logic circuit type stuff just a couple of days ago. But you need to alter/engineer the 3d block terrain so that the water goes where it’s supposed to, which is interesting and unique and the physics are good.

At first you need to make sure the beavers don’t starve or die of thirst, by building dams and storing food/water. This is not especially hard on the normal difficulty. Later it’s more about building cool or pretty engineering projects for the heck of it, feels a bit like building stuff on minecraft.

I haven’t played anno, and I haven’t gotten far enough in timberborn to unlock the automation stuff. So far the most important number seems to be average beaver quality of life.

Silksong. Game is so huge, damn. I played for like 3 weeks whenever I had an hour here or there and then I hit act 2 and realized that it would take place in all new locations. I googled a full map to see how much I was gonna be exploring and I got overwhelmed and stopped a bit lol. Super fun but it’s too big for simple ol’ me. I like banjo kazooie, small, short and fun.

Finished Metroid Prime 4. My verdict is, if you’re someone who’s already a fan of the Prime series, you’ll find it enjoyable. However, I don’t think it’s going to win over many new fans. If you haven’t played/aren’t aware of the lore of the prior Prime games then the main antagonist will feel forced and arbitrary. The hub world is a mixed bag; from a world building perspective, it makes way more sense to have these various biomes separated by a vast desert than taking elevators from one to the other. It does get dull though, and there’s some late game find/fetch quests in the desert that are very needle in a haystack. Combat is good, and while most of the psychic abilities are just mechanics from prior games with “psychic” in front of it, the psychic control beam was super satisfying. I wish there were more opportunities to use it.

Still working on gold staking all the jokers in Balatro, I have ten left. Of course, most of them are the PITA ones to win with like diet cola and invisible joker.

I just started Pathfinder: Kingmaker. It’s gonna be a long ride, I know the game is like 100+ hours long. Tried to get quality of life mods to work, but the Unity Mod Manager just crashes on startup and nothing seems to fix it. Oh well. I don’t know why they don’t use Steam Workshop or I can’t just drag and drop the files and have them work. Seems like a bad decision somewhere.

I made an Aasimar Rogue/Monk to get the feat that lets me use my Dex modifier for attacks instead of strength. I have 20 AC at level 1 with no shield, so OP. Ready to establish my holy kingdom after I kick out some bandits.

Edit: 2 hours in and I’m already annoyed at asinine tabletop rules that say I can’t level anymore as Monk unless my alignment stays Lawful. I hate alignment systems, they’re so trash.

Been playing so much since I got a Lenovo Legion Go so here we go:

Final Fantasy 13: Heard good/mixed things about it. I’m about 6 hours in and I don’t hate it, but I’m not exactly enjoying it either. I have no idea what a pulse l’cie, fal’cie, purge as both a place and an action, or any other terms mean despite them using these words in every sentence. It is probably the most linear final fantasy I’ve played. I’m stuck at Odin and die within the first 3 minutes or so. Does this game get better? I really want to like it. Does Hope get better as a character or is he always insufferable?

Fear and Hunger: About 4 hours in and it’s finally starting to click for me, in that I’ve figured out the combat strategy and am having more fun.

Tekken 7: I am bad at fighting games but this was on sale for $10 so I thought I’d give it a shot. It’s a fighting game alright. I am laughably bad at pushing buttons in any kind of combination that does anything useful.

Octopath Traveler 0: Best octopath game so far. Really tightened up the story and mechanics and it feels like the most solid of the 3. Enjoy the town-building/stardew valley aspect of it.

Hypnospace Outlaw: Lots of fun, very creative. I zoned out during the intro and have to go back and re-do it but this is really fun. Best played on a laptop/desktop for full immersion.

Hylics: I love it. Incredibly weird, fun art style and music. A few hours in and it has become one of my favorites.

Baldur’s Gate 3: I am overwhelmed by the amount of things you can do in this game. I am a few hours in and had to give it a break because this feels like it is going to consume my life if I let it.

Darkwood: It’s pretty hard but the atmosphere is a lot of fun. I haven’t really figured out the crafting/bartering system just yet and can’t make it past day 3 without dying but it’s fun. Have to be in the right state of mind to play it.

I finished my my final FTL achievements, and I’ve installed Multiverse. Holy hell can you do some absolutely absurd things in this mod!

I’m currently roaming around with a ship full of Rockman Cultists led by their High Priest, who can go sicko mode and wipe out even Mantis crew in seconds without significant risk.

    ds1 remastered

New Londo is really realy cool, probably my favorite area so far. (I also liked sen’s fortresss.) Love the concept it brings to mind, I was scared as hell when I first took the shortcut through to firelink. Of course im parkouring through it eventually, but the water and delapadated (& wet) cobblestone and ghosts ✨ 🤩

old londo looks glazed 😩 but I like the view now that the water’s gone down.

Anor Londo is scary in its own way. The emptiness and stillness is unsettling. The smoothness of everything is beautiful and unnerving. The way the wind whips through makes me think it must also be cold as hell.

        spoiler

The moment, when it turns out that the People’s Court is just as metaphysically valid as the imperial courts, is absolutely incredible. Especially with how much it terrifies nobles!
