It does mean less than it used to, under this admin, but nevertheless, the fact of the matter is, you are much less likely to get deported if you do have citizenship. (not immune, but much less likely) Most cases of citizens getting pick up do get released like withing 24 hours… (even tho that is still quite fucked up that they even get touched by ICE at all)

And the thing is… you see cases like Mahmoud Khalil… if he had been a citizen, they wouldn’t even be able to hold him for 24 hours before they’d have to release him… (I mean unless they wanna assassinate him and make him a martyr)

If Abrego Garcia had been a citizen… he likely would never have been on the plane to CECOT…

And to be clear… this is NOT to excuse those clearly illegal government actions… but if they had been citizens, it makes it MUCH HARDER for the govenment to do shenanigans like those…
