It is really funny to watch all of these people try to ‘analyze the strategy’ of a man who is clearly
-
An incredible dumbass
-
Possibly experiencing neurological symptoms natural to people of his age (dementia, memory loss, etc)
-
Never been subtle and always used to getting what he wanted
Gee professor, I wonder what the strategy was behind screaming ‘surrender now or we will rain hell upon you’ after failing to win the easy way, I can’t fathom
Oh my god I read the article and it’s actually somehow worse than the usual garbage
He said he did not believe the strategy would be successful, because the Iranian regime did not care about what the US did to its civilian population
He said he did not believe the strategy would be successful, because the Iranian regime did not care about what the US did to its civilian population
This is why they surrendered immediately.
Seriously, and it’s not just the war. I see way too much of it with all his insane ramblings and “policies”
Academics failing to understand material reality and inventing another ten thousand dancing angel theories to explain the most basic shit

Trump threatens to destroy civilian infrastructure, literally tells press he doesn’t care if it’s a war crime.
Some of Trump’s threats would technically amount to war crimes

I’m not an international law expert, but are the actual threats a war crime, or if he followed through?
At least in terms of international laws that govern war crimes, the best take on international law is that it essentially doesn’t exist.
I’m not sure, but their reaction would be the same either way.
I always thought madman theory was intentional craziness to confuse the enemy. Not an actual lunatic at the helm.
Depends on how competent you think Nixon was, I suppose.
he was more together than half of the subsequent presidents
Generally I’d agree but there’s also the famous story (which is not officially confirmed) of Nixon drunkenly ordering them to launch the nukes.
Nixon drunkenly ordering them to launch the nukes vs Reagan ordering them to launch the nukes as a bit of warm up riffing
“The idea is that you don’t know whether the person will or won’t do it, and the opposition will be scared into making a deal.”
My take on this is that whenever libs say Trump won’t do something that he says he’s gonna do he always does it.
I believe his threats are not just idle threats. They are things he sincerely might do, whether he does or does not though depends on what vibes he’s feeling at the moment of decision.
Which is why I am afraid he will have a B2 drop a nuke on Iran. Remember all the cold war stuff about MAD was about ICBMs because each power could detect the others launches ahead of time. If a Nuke suddenly detonates over Tehran I don’t think either Russia or China would immediately fire on the US.
“It was just a joke bro” as diplomatic policy
Madman theory?
Based on gas prices, more like “Mad Max Theory”

I subscribe Mad Men theory. Give me a bottle of whiskey, a carton of cigs and I’ll have this thing solved by market close.

I’m not an international legal expert. However, i’m not convinced that anyone really believes that Trump has something as complex as a strategy. I think what we see are the behaviour traits of a moron. The self-same traits have been the center point of his entire career and personal life.
