I never read the comics, but when I read the novelization, I barely had any concept of who Batman was and even less so any of the other characters. (I had watched occasional episodes of TAS and that’s about it.)
So the ideas and villains introduced were somewhat wild to me.
I came in from a somewhat similar area. I loved this series so much as a kid. I was fascinated and have remained enamored with this arc. I’ve been dying to see it brought Nolan style to a big screen but this will be great too.
This was awesome back in the day. Until Azrael become bats. Then it hits peak 90’s

Dark Knight Rises shared a lot of story elements with, at least, the novel.
