I’ve seen more and more .mlers adopting populist rhetoric similar to Trump, calling people on the right nasty and vile (which in large part is true, but I prefer accurately calling them ignorant or hateful as opposed to blanket generalizations). You guys, frequently, share the exact same rhetoric as MAGA types - but you’ll never admit it.
I also keep seeing people who call themselves leftists using ‘Dumbocrats’ which is just so fucking weird and juvenile that it makes me wonder half the time whether they’re just trolls.
We’ve got the fake news and media distrust, conspiratorial framing and revisionist history, isolationism, and a similar hostility to anyone on the left that doesn’t immediately capitulate (this last one is practically identical to MAGA interacting with Republicans back when they were infecting the party).
Idk man, I happen to think you’re reasonable for the most part - except when being objective about people that are a part of your movement. Seems like all I need to do is say the magic words of ‘Israel bad, U.S. bad, Ukraine bad, Russia and China - very good!’ and I’m free to say whatever the fuck vile shit I want.

I don’t think I’m influential at all. Moreover, Lemmy is incredibly tiny, the broader communist movement is what has far more power over Lemmy communists than one communist on Lemmy.
