No surprise: Imperial core human rights NGOs are a psyop of empire.
A little surprise here, even though aware of the fascist hegemony of the “western” (white aka liberal) countries/institutions, we are also used of seeing groups posing as antifa or against genocides while not really addressing the issue.
This is quite a move and Amnesty is going to have a hard time after that.
it makes you wonder why the soviets didn’t or the chinese don’t take on this strategy – having ngo’s laundering your foreign interference seems to be MUCH MORE effective given the perceived degree of separation it gives you compared to official state propaganda mouthpieces like rt.
It’s because they want their propaganda—and their censorship—to be out in the open.
Is that an assertion/conclusion or is it written down somewhere?
I’m sure it’s been written about, but I don’t know of any off the top of my head.
China is explicit about what can’t be said, and the structure and mechanics of censorship are public knowledge. Conversely in the West, and especially in the US, there’s a claim of freeze peach and a sprawling, multi-layered, plausibly-deniable system of speech suppression.
Looking more about amnesty stance on the matter:
Amnesty International does not take positions on ideologies and political systems such as Zionism. Our statement does not assess or comment on Zionism as a political idea.
This new contradicts the words (thus making clear of the hypocrisy).
Amnesty International does not take positions on ideologies and political systems such as Zionism.
Amnesty International is famous for not being political and taking positions on “human rights” and “discrimination” after all. Yep. They are always fully neutral.
@geneva_convenience @Kajika Some decades ago they were soliciting support so I asked them “do you still support IRA and PLO terrorists?” (you can tell how long ago this was). “Yes,” they said.
@TimWardCam Dod you really think that Amnesty supported the IRA & PLO?
@2legged @geneva_convenience @Kajika They gave that impression at the time, and they said “yes” when I asked them to confirm or deny. Sorry, I no longer have that email from last century so there’s just my memory to go on.
@TimWardCam That’s a v serious allegation, which goes right to the core of what Amnesty stands for. If you want to make such a serious claim now, it would be a basic act of courtesy to seek supporting info, rather than making such a sweeping claim based only a memory of 30 years ago.
@2legged @geneva_convenience @Kajika I don’t suppose they’ve kept a copy of that email either.
@TimWardCam You really really base that sweeping claim on one email from 30 years ago which you can’t even quote part of, or even identify who sent it? Really?
Are you proactively trying to paint yourself in a very bad light?
Sorry Amnesty International, but Human Rights means all humans.
Isn’t that the same Amnesty International that claims DPRK and PRC murders gorillions of people in the gulags everyday?
