Former President Donald Trump hurled insults at his rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, and other women Wednesday — saying he had no interest in stopping his attacks even if they turn off female voters — as Hurricane Milton made landfall, lashing Florida with rain, tornadoes and tropical-storm-force winds.

“I don’t want to be nice,” Trump said at his first of two rallies of the day in the pivotal battleground state of Pennsylvania. “You know, somebody said, ‘You should be nicer. Women won’t like it.’ I said, ‘I don’t care.’”

He later refuted the idea that his rhetoric was a problem, even as polls show Trump is viewed less favorably by women than by men. “The women want to see our country come back,” he said. “They don’t care.”

They basically do - in addition to people who live in range of the immediate storm surge, those who live in mobile homes and other less safe buildings are told to evacuate, and evacuate can mean “go to your local storm shelter” which is often a well built community center or high school gym or whatever. They’ve got cots they set out. Some shelters are pet friendly, some are aimed at people with medical issues who are in trouble if a building loses power. Electrical workers and first responders are the sorts who stay to help with storm response as soon as it’s safe. (Downed power lines are extremely dangerous, and making sure they don’t kill anyone is part of ASAP storm response.)

Oh yes of course you are correct. I was referring to privately owned recreational facilities such as, say, golf/country clubs, especially those where the main resident saves on taxes by burying his ex-wife on the property and calling it a cemetery…

I’m sure he’d welcome a crowd of storm-tossed refugees, wouldn’t he? It’s Florida, they mostly voted for him so he owes them, right?
