The EU came about on the back of a continent-wide decline in nationalism as people recognised its association with what brought the continent to war. This led to a general embarrassment with overt displays of nationalism (flag shagging) and the continent culturally played down nationalism and played up a faux-internationalist culture between EU countries.
That is being undone and nationalism is rising. WW2 lessons are being forgotten because they were only passed down from folk to folk with no state-level efforts against nationalism because liberals do not oppose it and think it’s good for them.
Nationalism always trends towards ultranationalism.
What is it about the Europeans that causes them to be so violent towards one another?
Nationalism causes it.

That’s certainly a theory, but have we checked their skull sizes?🤔
Indeed. We must check their brainpans for any anomalies!
