    Cleaning day yay :(

    House is easy.

The shed however is a different story.

    Edit:

Oh I forgot. Big stray cats update:

    I’ve got some great help!!!

I found a vet that will spay them for free, and some places that are interested in taking them after spaying. But they need somewhere to chill while they’re healing up.

    Enter the brick shed.

I’m about 2/3rds of the way through cleaning it out. Lots of boxes for hiding, I’ve got this roll of fake grass that’s been in the backyard since I moved in. Heavy fucker, but I’m going to try to get it in the shed today after I’ve finished tidying.

I have several cat carriers for transporting fluff balls.

I have a massive play pen thing that’ll have blankets etc for chilling out.

I have a portable aircon for hot days (already had it)

All that’s missing is a couple of those industrial fans from bunnings, then the cats themselves.

The cat traps are being delivered on Wednesday.

    Progress!!

Woke up this morning to find a widowmaker in my front yard. That is, a drought stressed gum tree has dropped an entire limb due to sudden change in water/atmospheric pressure. Fortunately, it’s a street tree so not my responsibility to fix. There will be others I reckon. Park your car carefully folks.

Nope, nuthin. Which is fortunate. Neighbour & I have hauled the limb out onto the footpath/verge for the council to deal with. This required much swearing and a rope&pulley and the other street tree, but has been accomplished. A big thank you to my neighbour on the other side for doing much of the donkey work.

OK the shed is almost done

Once I get that roll of fake grass in there when I’m healed up I’ll be happy.

This is the play pen thing

I’ve had a very self indulgent evening full of colouring, gaming, music and YT. Do you love me when I break down?

Installing kubuntu on an old surface laptop as win10 is dying. Asking for a BIOS password. Messaged the seller from four years ago and his random guess was it. Fantastic.

I heard Fedora has some arrangement with Microsoft as well. I think you can install it on BIOS locked computers as well. Handy to know if you’re ever in this situation again

Just finished my Lord of the Rings listen. It’s been YEARS since I read the books and the audiobooks are so good. Coming back to it as an adult I see so much more subtlety - as a kid I never understood why there’s half a book of stuff after they destroy the ring. But now I do, so many war books never deal with coming home and what that does to people.

But now I am a bit sad 😢

Anyway 5 out of five hobbits. Stay tuned for more cutting edge early reviews 🤣

The books are just so emotional, I find myself crying all the time, now I’m crying again ( it’s that ptsd again, fuck terrorists )

also , it’s a big bloody relief if they just come home, ( some don’t make it 😔 ) even better if they have all their fingers and toes

Tolkien drew on his experiences of WWI and it really shows in the relations between Samwise and Frodo, but also in the scouring of the shire. That, yes you may have survived, but the effects will follow you for the rest of time. That coming home, doesn’t mean it’s the home you remember. Everytime we go to war, the world changes.

I didn’t grow up religious, I grew up reading LoTR, the Hobbit, and the Silmarillion 😅

Yeah I keep realising how much of my life philosophy was grounded in stuff like LOTR even if I didn’t fully understand why. Pretty sure the Ents radicallised me! I think I was more upset by the scouring of the shire than anything else this time. Hit different at 50 then it did at 10.

100% with our adult brains, the state of the world now and in the past, the story makes so much more sense. It’s beautiful and tragic, but ultimately hopeful which is the most important part imo

Post nap regret. But I was completely exhausted and am tucked in with Melbcat. She’s so soft

No idea if old mate stopped by while I was sleeping but I’ve belatedly put some dry food out just in case

Lol. Banned again for inciting violence when recommending self-defence methods. No wonder people are starting to use infantile replacement words. OK_Work7396 you had a good run. Amazing considering I can watch ICE openly execute people on reddit.

I’ve been wanting to post wondering why there aren’t huge mobs with pitchforks outside the WH

because the epstein files dropped and seriously, what would take , there’s murder and child sex auctions in the files, where is the line?

I was this close to going for a bike ride, then I heard the bedroom door slowly open. One of the kids woke up and no one else is up to watch him.

I want to try do more normal bike rides when I can and not just ride the ebike to work a few days a week

Terrible sleep followed by Sunday scaries. Oof.

Edit: I definitely managed to wrench my ankle favouring my knee. Melbcat and I slept most of the day and are snuggling.

Matey potatey ate the dry food while I was sleeping so I didn’t get a chance to get a good picture or give him the drops. I’m fretting a bit because I feel responsible for him now

Worst night’s sleep in a long time. I doubt I’ll make pride march today. Plus my knee’s still sore and I can’t walk very far.

I saw an email about the march last week and for some reason my brain just decided it was in March, so I didn’t realise it was today. It’s nice that the universe provided it’s support with cooler weather for marching in!
