Also, as a Fawlty Towers fan, I’m just grateful there’s not a huge fight going on upon the making of such. XD

Looks delicious, but there’s no way I’d order from them. So I get my food, and then get to prepare it while it’s too hot to touch? So I need to wait for it to cool down to extract the mussel, and shell the shrimp. And then I get to eat lukewarm paella. It bothers me to have to shell food that’s been cooked, but know not everyone is neurotic as me.

“Extract the mussel” you mean use a fork to pick the tender meat out of an open shell? I don’t know how you will manage.

The shrimp, I can definitely see your point. I don’t want to get my hands dirty.

Have you had a mussel that the separated from the shell just by stabbing it and then picking it up? I’ve always had to hold the shell in place while doing so. Which gets the sauce on my hands, which is functionally not that different than peeling the shrimp that will “get my hands dirty”, at least in my mind. And I could manage it all just fine, if I wanted to, but clearly do not.

Wow, the British do really love their peas! Paella has no peas, but even if you wanted to add some, that is an insane amount.

But hey, all dishes get adapted to the target culture, and if that’s how they want to enjoy paella, more power to them. Let them have nice things.
