I don’t think I have ever seen something so fucking horrifying. I’m drunk so my emotions are high but I think I am genuinely in shock.I see why the memory of glacial outburst floods have been preserved for so long. I cannot fathom the horror. I think I just watched hundreds of people instantly die. I don’t have words to describe how I feel about this.
I know I’m preaching to the choir here but we need to do things I would be accused of fedposting for. The people responsible for climate change need judged by an unforgiving god. I’ve never been so genuinely horrified by a “natural” disaster in my life and I personal knew a family who drowned in the Texas floods a years ago.
I don’t know how much longer I can wait for liberals figure shit out. I don’t want to do a fucking adventurism, I know that it is harmful, but I can’t keep just observing
Reminds me of how I felt during peak USA covid where everything as it truly is was laid completely bare and people could easily connect their neighbors and relatives dying directly to the choices and actions of a few. And its surprising that we didn’t have some libs or left types snap and decide it was

I despise the fact that no lessons were learned from COVID and that almost no one actually saw the world for what it is from the severe mishandling of that entire pandemic. I’m sure some did, but boy did they almost immediately go back to brunch once they could.
I feel so left behind by my friends, family, and peers because I saw it for what it was and never went back to “normal”.
It’s becoming the same exact thing with climate change. I’m one of the few people in my circle that I see acknowledging what’s going on around us.
Everyone else, just like with COVID, is waiting for brunch prices to go back down without acknowledging why the price has risen like 3000% in the past 5 years. Or I guess a better example is the people who keep wondering where the seasons went. Pissing and moaning about not getting in any good snowboarding this winter without acknowledging what could be the cause…
And its surprising that we didn’t have some libs or left types snap and decide it
Well dozens of police and protesters were injured and at least one police precinct was burnt down during the anti-racist protests which was during covid, I personally saw a full row of flaming police vehicles around June 2020, some people did snap a bit.
Yeah for sure I was thinking about that when I posted.
Lots of
but not so much
just got a call from my mother. apparently a family member of mine was in the border building that got got by the mud ocean.
I’m so sorry to hear that. The video of that building being destroyed is horrifying, if you haven’t seen it yet please do not watch it.
nah, i saw a clip of that last night shortly after it happened. it’s movie-level unreal footage. like someone spent a million dollars on special effects.
something like a thousand people gone, and we’re gonna see more and more of these every summer. there are a fucking zillion valleys in the enormous mountains all around tibet, and all of them are living on a prayer at this point.
My condolences to your family, that’s awful.
Believe you me, as much as I wish I could just take a flaming sword and scour the Earth, it wouldn’t fix everything
Start with any local organizations you have, I started up (well, rebooted, but it’s a long story and i’m tired, so another day) a Queer Pride group in town just because I wanted to meet some people who weren’t awful.
Sure, some of them were awful, but the ones who stuck around because what I was saying resonated with them are really cool people and seeing as how i’m almost middle-aged, it makes those bad thoughts seem less big
It certainly helps with the alienation too
I’m in such an alienating place. i have a few people I know who are really cool and I can vent with them but that’s all it is. There is no action to take. I simply need to get out of here
Yeah, sometimes that’s the best course too
It’s hard, but it can be worth it
All this, so the worst of us can enjoy another yacht, or just watch a god damn number grow.
I saw the footage last night and it was like something out of a nightmare. There was nothing anyone in the footage could do. No time to get to higher ground. No building to hide in. Just crushing debris and an ocean of water.
I can sympathise, it’s infuriating that there is more focus on building AI slop than mitigating climate change.
Yeah, felt similarly. This would not have happened had the glaciers not been melting.
Think globally, adventure locally.
I saw it earlier today and it’s one of the worst videos I’ve ever seen. Body temperature dropped as I realized what was happening. I’m usually good at avoiding NSFL stuff but it was just described as “flash flood on Tibet/Nepal border”.
Did you watch this in person? Or on video? Take a break from the internet my friend, seriously, atleast avoid watching footage of people being hurt / dying. I know some people feel they need to watch war footage or natural disasters or just disaster footage in general to be locked in … Just don’t. It’s not good for you.
Documentaries, etc, sure., but you are really doing a disservice to yourself watching footage like that, the kind of people that watch this kind of footage regularly are not mentally healthy. Stay up.
It was not my intention to see all that :/
I heard “flooding in Tibet” and clicked a video without realizing what I was getting in to.
