6 years old Lian Yunzhi broke women’s world record at 4.27 seconds. The men’s world record of 3.51 seconds is held by Yiheng Wang - a 12 years old Chinese kid.
Of all the things to have gender segregated competition, why Rubik’s cubes? It feels almost like a parody of gendered chess competition and things.
Several sports that are mind-only are segregated not because we don’t want men vs women but because without doing so you get less women, and if you have less women in the sport you have less potential to grow and foster the talent of women to the maximum potential.
It’s done because men are dipshits to women and this causes fewer women competitors.
It’s not, women compete against men in the same competitions at the same level. We just track statistics for both men and women. When you go to the WCA website the default view for results is combined, but you can, if you wish, choose to look at just men or just women. We also track the country of each competitor even though competitors can compete in events regardless of which country it’s in.
chess is segregated because men are shitty to women, rubik’s cube could be the same.
i guess the other choice is landspeed racing where there’s a division for every different number of screws in the car.
I didn’t think using prison guards as drivers was a good idea, until I found out how dangerous it is

A standard rubiks cube is covered entirely in colors that encode activation signatures targeting testosterone levels in cells. An AB test of a rubik’s cube using mauve, fuchsia, periwinkle, heliotrope, aubergine, and cerise demonstrated reverse gender bias in triple blind studies.

As a trans girl, who also happens to be colorblind, I hate this lmao
the purple cube
I can’t even solve a single rubiks cube if you gave me 4.27 years
Didn’t the guy who originally came up with it take like a week to solve one? For a regular non-math-nerd it does seem pretty hopeless doesn’t it
Obviously learning the algorithms other people have figured out isn’t that hard, but actually solving it yourself is kinda crazy
when i was 6 and had a rubix cube, my attempt to solve it involved trying to peel and reapply the stickers.
even that didn’t work. fuck that “toy” lol
The mechanism of the cube isn’t actually firmly attached except for the 6 center squares, you can pop the rest out by just getting one out and the rest come loose, so I just put it back together solved :3
3 things here
6 year olds are not toddlers Rubix’s cube is literally a toy puzzle While solving it in this frame is impressive, it literally is just a puzzle competition, it’s like measuring sports achievement to determine the hedgemony-
If we survive this century it’ll be a Chinese because of the industrial base in China not because 6 year olds can do fast cubing.
If we survive this century it’ll be a Chinese because of the industrial base in China not because 6 year olds can do fast cubing.
that’s not what the history book i will write says
It was the 6 year olds with their rubicks cubes who saved us all - John History

Sorry it’s a habit, can’t help myself, I am leftist killjoy in the end
You’re going to look silly in 10 years when it’s revealed that aliens with rubik’s cuboid shaped bodies are secretly on earth and the cause of climate change.
