    Is it mentally healthy to have hope? Yes. Is it mentally healthy to have irrational validation of insufficiency? No. It’s circumstantial, but you must do better than the minimum criteria for basic success.

      There’s also something about this that just feels very invalidating. Like someone telling you that your need to eat and have a roof over your head isn’t important.

    But if I’m not getting something done that needs to be done, despite my best efforts. Then by definition I’m not enough. I must improve/get better, so that my best would be enough to get, whatever task it was that i failed, done to a satisfactory degree.
