I recently rewatched the 80s Superman movies, and it’s really unclear to me why they will not Kneel Before Zod.

Presumably if you’re shaped like a human rather than a bee and you’re not going for aerodynamics then you’d fly with a standing posture. Some characters (Magneto, for example) do.
Every time Superman goes evil that’s how he flies. It’s evil flying.

Yeah! Face first sounds extremely dangerous now that you mention it.
I’d fly feet first. If I hit something, I can bend my knees to absorb some impact, or kick off of it for a quick 180. Hell, with a little practice, you could look like you were about to flying kick someone 100% of the time. That’s pretty badass.

The stereotypical Superman flying pose is like diving into a pool, which is optimized for hydro/aerodynamics, and probably is the pose Superman would go for when he wants to go fast.
